Work Experience

2022 - Present

Editor & Producer

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

At The Met, I edit interpretive editorial content related to the museum, its collection, and exhibitions for our digital publications, Perspectives and the Timeline of Art History. That has involved commissioning writing from curators, conservators, artists, and community members, and working with them through developmental, line, copy and structural editing. I also work on a cross-functional Content Lab, bringing together content producers and software developers to ideate and build new experimental forms of storytelling.

2023

Book Editor

Freelance

I edited Columbia History Professor Manan Ahmed’s upcoming book, Disrupted City, on history and memory in Lahore, Pakistan's cultural and intellectual capital, providing developmental, line, and copy, editing. The book will be published by The New Press in July 2024.

2020 - Present

Senior Editor

South Asian Avant Garde Anthology

SAAG is an anthology, a magazine, and a collective, serving as a space to publish avant-garde literature, reportage, art, and other creative media from across South Asia and its diverse diasporas. As a Senior Editor, I work primarily on multimedia, essays, and reportage, collaborating with contributors to edit, hewn and direct their projects. I've also conducted rigorous interviews with eminent authors, academics, and artists.

2018 - 2022

Producer and Researcher

The New Yorker

At The New Yorker, I produced interactive stories and multimedia content, project managing this work from inception through publication. That involved generating story ideas; communicating with and getting buy-in from stakeholders; writing project proposals; conducting background research, interviews and reporting; designing and storyboarding; editing audio and video; clearing legal rights and fact-checking; coding interactive features; creating project-timelines and deadlines; and managing publication.

During that time, I produced award-winning immersive features, designed new interactive tools that could enhance storytelling, managed our Election 2020 results visualizations, and launched and produced Books for the Midnight Hour, an IGTV video series.

I also served as Unit Chair of The New Yorker Union, helping to organize 150 workers, and working with The News Guild of New York, New Yorker management, and Condé Nast lawyers to negotiate and sign The New Yorker's first collective bargaining agreement.
